
For more than 200 years, Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue has committed itself to the Hanover community. Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue supports the career staff of Hanover Area Fire Rescue Commission in providing high-level, quality Fire-Rescue and EMS services in a combination paid and volunteer system. In addition to assisting with firefighting, the fire company provides rescue, air cascade, lighting, SCUBA, traffic control and public event support, fire safety education and outreach to the greater Hanover community.

n April 26, 2025, Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue recognized thirty-one members who have at least 50 years or more of service with the organization. The Honorees received a Certificate of Golden Achievement in a padded, gold stamped Company 79 Shield certificate cover, a golden lapel pin, and a luncheon at Bay City Restaurant in Hanover. The honorees and a guest were joined by special guests including Retired Fire Commissioner James Roth, Chairman of the Hanover Area Fire Rescue Commission C. Michael Newman, Hanover Area Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Joe Wysocki, Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue President Jeffery Spielman, and representing PA State Representative Kate Klunk of Hanover, her Office Manager Stephanie Jarbeck.
