The objects of this association shall be to provide for and maintain a fund from the foreign insurance tax appropriation, from legacies, bequests, gifts, and other sources, for the relief of members who may be prevented from their usual occupation or calling, on account of chronic ailments caused through exposure or accident while doing public service and or fire duty, and for such expenses necessary for the maintenance of the Relief Association.
The active membership of the association shall consist of the officers and active members of the Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company under the supervision and control of the Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Commission.
Definition of an active firefighter is one who engages in the activities of his fire company such as fighting fires, attending meetings, working in the firehouse, or serving as an officer, and shall include active members who participate in this benefit and those who are currently active in the fire companies activities and/or who have served as an active member over a period of years and can no longer be active due to age and infirmities or disabilities.
As stated in section 6-E-10 of Act 84 of 2016. Relief Association funds are to pay for reasonable expenses actually necessary for attending firefighters training. Relief Association Officers will have final say on Auditing of expense reports to ensure compliance with PA Act 84.
