Member Highlight: Tony Funk

Anthony "Tony" Funk has been volunteering with HAVFR and its legacy companies for exactly 50 years! He joined Eagle Fire Company in 1972 and never went back on his commitment to the community. Today, Tony is the current treasurer of the HAVFR Relief Association. In the past, he's been a trustee for Eagle Fire Company and Hanover Area Fire Rescue, and Chairman of the Hanover Area Fire Rescue Shell Corporation/Merger Steering Committee.

Tony has always lived in the Hanover area, and has spent the last 50 years living in the Hanover Borough. He and his wife have children, grandchildren and even four great grandchildren!

Tony has a degree as a professional geologist, but has been an electrician since high school. He had his own business in Hanover for 42 years until he retired. Now, Tony also enjoys volunteering with the Hanover Fire Museum and is a member of the Hanover Borough Planning Commission.

When asked why he's enjoyed volunteering these past five decades, Tony says he gets satisfaction from helping others, and enjoys the social aspect of volunteering. He encourages others to join the company and says it's a great experience.

Thank you for your commitment to the community, Tony!
