Fred Ayers, Lieutenant in the HAVFR's Fire Police, has been volunteering in fire and rescue for more than 51 years. He's served as HAVFR President and Vice President of Firefighter Relief Association in the past. Fred has lived in the Hanover area for 15 years and has been volunteering with HAVFR ever since moving here.
The fire police are responsible for the protection of firefighters and the public at the scene of an emergency. They assist the police and fire service by enforcing traffic control where ever needed.
When Fred isn't volunteering, he enjoys golfing, reading and traveling with his wife. He says he enjoys being able to assist firefighters and police officers at the scene of an emergency. Fred encourages new volunteers to join the fire police or another integral part of the HAVFR: "You are joining a great group of individuals of like interests and a desire to help those in need in their community."
Thank you for your commitment to the community, Fred Ayers!
